(Painted with Gouache on ~A5 paper)

The second test of my new Gouache paints I did by the end of last year. Now onwards to more complex and bigger piece – and different motifs. This one and the Kitsune were clearly inspired by my journey to japan a while ago. I fell in love with all those amazing statues, so, obviously, I had to paint some.

By the end of last year I finally tried out some new Gouache paints. So this was kind of a test artwork to get a feeling for those paints – and I have to say I really enjoy working with Gouache. So you can expect more of that in the future.

I’ve heard of an Eerie, a weird sort of Sidhe, maybe an Ellyllon, who left the Síd to wander through the known and unknown lands. She found her peace, her place to be, within an enormous cave, filled with glowing waters and curious spirits. The spirits followed her, first at distant, then up close, for she created stars to paint the cave ceiling in colors of vision and wonder. Her reason was unclear, but there were those who said that she is a keeper of forgotten dreams – that she found and kept alive what others lost. That is why she is called the Sanctum Shepherd and that once dark, now glowy cave became the safest space under the sun and moon, for nobody would dare to disturb the peace of one of the three eerie sisters.

The swamp is a secretive and sometimes monstrous place. It’s a treasury of things long hidden and forgotten – and the keys to unlock them are found within, if you dare to step a foot into the misty grounds.

Step by step, the stars shall guide,
Through dark nights and barren land wide.
Where eyes like lanterns gently glow,
And secret paths beyond the known go.

The wind will weave a whispered tune,
Of dreams that dance beneath the moon.
No fear shall hold the wanderer’s name,
For all who seek are kin the same.

So take the path where none have been,
Past hills and stones, through veil and green,
For those who walk with open heart
Shall find where wonder’s journeys start.

Fly far, fly free, and do not fear nor grieve,
The spirits sing to those who bravely leave.
And when the stars are all you see,
Know this: they remember thee.

The Sky is not the Limit.

First piece of a new painting series, expressing my passion for and dreaming about nightly skies, nebula, and celestial beings.

A little gift I drew for friends a while ago. It shows one of their adorable cats, Lucky, who passed away a few months ago. Lucky enjoyed the sunny summer days, napping in the garden. To honor her, I wanted to capture such a moment on paper.

This time I decided to do a simpler, less detailed sketchbook cover featuring Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon.

Created with acrylics, watercolor and colored pencils on 30 x 45 cm paper.

This work features one of my personal creatures: Nouri, the little helper spirit. This artwork is about making dreams reality and believing in your ability to achieve them.

This year I’ll attend several conventions to sell print, originals, 3D-dragons, self-made or printed bags, etc. … and spontaneously also felt like creating some sticker designs. They are available in my Red Bubble Shop (of course without the watermark) and will also be possible to purchase at conventions.

Cover Feature Illustration commission I did earlier this year for the publication of Studt-Reinhold et al. in ChemBioChem.

A sea of stars, eyes of spirits,
fuel for dawn’s blade.
The monsters we slayed,
in ruins of what used to be,
turning skull to stone, blood to roses.

“My sword for you”, Kee’Asuriah growled,
mind castle’s patron saint
with a trinity of crows by her side.
“Reclaim the throne,
for this is just the beginning of your road.”
